Hannah & Cameron September 2023

“From the very first moment that we visited Flaxton Gardens the warmth and love that you showed us was like no other. Cameron and I remember turning to one another and knowing that this was the place where we were meant to say ‘I Do’ and start our future together. Throughout the entire wedding planning process you were all so incredibly kind, caring and patient. You made bringing our dream wedding day to life so fun, easy and enjoyable – you can see that each of you are all so genuinely invested in the love stories of your couples and making their special day nothing short of a fairy-tale. Words will never be able to express our thanks, gratitude and appreciation for absolutely everything that you all did to make our wedding day so special. “

Now, we all love a good proposal story and this one is no exception. Within just a year of being together, Cameron decided that it was time to propose. Unbeknownst to Hannah, he began to put quite a few plans in place in preparation to ‘pop’ the question. First, he spoke to both sets of parents to get their blessing. Then, he discussed opals and engagement rings with Hannah’s Mum as he wanted to design the perfect ring for Hannah. One that not only reflected her but would also symbolise the love they share.

But along the way, there were some moments when Cameron’s careful planning was in jeopardy. Hannah recalls one afternoon seeing Cameron’s phone light up with an unrecognised number. She soon realised that the number calling was her dad’s mobile and queried why he would be calling him and not her. Cam, thinking on his feet, told her that he wanted to discuss the ‘Bunnings App’ which she, to his relief, believed without question. In truth, Scott, who had just heard the news from Sue that Cameron was looking to buy an engagement ring for Hannah, could not contain his excitement and was promptly calling to give Cam his blessing.

After this, Cam ordered the ring and waited impatiently for it to arrive. He had planned to propose to Hannah while on their end of year holiday together to Heron Island although, unfortunately, it didn’t arrive in time and turned up two hours after they had left home! But that was not going to deter Cam.

Each afternoon, Hannah and Cameron would go for a sunset walk around the small island. On one occasion, a passive onlooker saw the couple surveying the sunset and snapped a few photos, mentioning to them that they weren’t sure if Cameron was about to pop the question. Little did they or Hannah know that this was Cam’s exact plan for the very next day!

Now, the biggest issue while Cameron was waiting for the perfect opportunity to ask Hannah to marry him, was actually waiting for her to stop talking. But after a pause in conversation, she did, and Cameron quickly got down on one knee and asked his perfect girl to marry him. He whipped out a ring box and opened it to reveal…a picture of the ring that would soon be on her finger. Something that his mum, Sue, had helped him to put together a few days before as a contingency. Fifty-seven YES’S later, it was definitely confirmed and they were officially engaged.

The really lovely part of this was that because there is no reception on Heron Island, until they returned to the mainland, Hannah and Cameron were able to share a special bubble of happiness that only they were in. A beautiful way to begin a life together!
